I recently watched both of Catherine Liu’s episodes on the Doom Scroll podcast… Definitely one of the best Leftist/Socialist oriented podcasts I’ve seen in a while (see comments). I think it helps that both the guest and the host come from the Arts. I’m actually not a huge fan of two of her biggest references, Marx and Freud, in case you haven’t noticed, although I will read both of them and can appreciate their ideas in a more philosophical sense. It was really interesting though, to hear somebody inspired by more oldschool Marxism share most of my critiques of modern socialist/Leftist discourse.
Much like when you meet a real Christian, it’s obvious that she has devoted a lot of sincere work into trying to find the best in Marx, and she almost projects a glow on to his ideas that’s more divine than he actually deserves (imho). I wish more Marxists would follow her lead instead of resembling the much-less-rare Christians who believe that the good faith of their religion is so obvious and eminent that they don’t actually have to embody it themselves. Kinda defeats the purpose of idealizing somebody if you don’t actually live that ideal yourself, as one of their followers, you know?
It’s also curious that she, like me, comes from a background in film studies. I think there’s something about constantly interfacing creatively with disparate estranged narratives that lends itself to broader cultural insights (empathy in the true sense), a sort of bird’s eye POV that can zoom in and zoom out. The crossroads of optimism and healthy skepticism that lends credence to our actions.
One of the reasons why I find “left-wing” media to be a slog (almost even more so than right-wing media these days) is that it’s often a unique brand of scripted ignorance/arrogance that presents itself as a moral authority in a way that’s eerily reminiscent of when Christianity was first appropriated by dogmatic community leaders and crusader oligarchs, and basically became the evil that you weren’t allowed to call evil because it was team “The Good Guys.”™️ How can the good guys be the bad guys, if they’re the good guys, right…? Now, that’s just irrational. Good guys are good guys, bad guys are bad guys. If we say so, it must be true.
Likewise, so much like the Church’s obsession with stamping out “the devil” in humanity, The Left has felt similarly fixated on abstract social evils while ignoring a lot of the corruption and injustice right in front of their faces, not to mention in their midsts.
In particular, The Left is almost pathologically unwilling to address the influences that social engineering and academia have had on the sway and scope of their political (not to mention personal) movements. Similarly, the degree to which their reactivity is funded by and founded upon being anti “the other team”—which so often unwittingly turns them into controlled opposition by proxy.
You can see it in their lust for Satanic imagery as well, and the fact that so many socialists base their identity on embodying the seven deadly sins: lust, envy, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, and pride. Which, while I don’t agree that any of those behaviors are inherently “sinful,” they’re widely recognized (not to mention widely historically documented) as leading humanity down a bad path in excess. It’s like they’re trying to rebel against The Church by following all of the same trappings of hubris that The Church itself fell victim to, and became increasingly corrupted to the core by. This whole “my enemy’s enemy is my friend” schtick is getting really old. Satanism didn’t develop its bad reputation due to church propaganda, it developed it by leaving a trail of cruelty, enslavement, and perversion every where it went. True perversion, not the type of mild sexual deviance we project perversity on today, but spitting in the face of nature every chance it got. That religion will not liberate you, regardless of what it claims. It is only the shadow side of what you love to hate…
I do feel that Catherine Liu often avoids confronting these issues directly to a certain extent, although it’s very difficult to address social engineering without sounding like a conspiracy theorist (which is by design). However, if critical thinking is the long route to arriving there, better late than never and I’ll take what I can get. Her second podcast in particular felt a bit momsplainy on certain issues too, and may sound dismissive to some of the more prideful Gen Z/Y/X audiences, but in a lot of ways I think The Left needs more of a mothering influence to ground itself back in reality. Any time somebody actually encourages debate rather than simply trying to win at any cost I become a fan.
I’ve shared my views on Iain McGilchrist’s deeply researched Left/Right brain hemisphere theory before, and how eerily the left wing resembles a left-brain imbalance (and no, it’s not a pseudo science). I actually feel that the division into right vs. left primes us for this from the start. Leftists are so academically plodding they don’t even realize when they’re using statistics and compartments to misrepresent reality and misdirect our navigation of it; nor do they notice that they’re becoming just as dogmatic and culturally stagnant as the conservative right-wing they condemn. Alas.

P.s. For a deeper dive into social engineering, I strongly recommend Mark Passio’s “What on Earth is Happening?” podcast series beginning with Episode #1 from 2010. He explores many of the same topics I covered in this post, and brings an insider’s perspective to the history of modern Satanism (and its occulting influences) in particular. As always, use your own discernment and discretion. I personally value accurate pattern recognition more than 100% agreement at all times as far as specific intel is concerned, as we tend to find that so many “facts” are ultimately either proven and/or disproven in time, thus making it impossible to be 100% factual in our theories and hypotheses. His work is a great research tool, and his observations of where we are at culturally has resonated deeply with my own education and experience on these subjects… especially with 16 years of hindsight now from the show’s humble beginnings:
