Nothing to excess…

It’s so strange, how both The Left and The Right seem to view excessive manmade laws as symbolic of “civilized” society and inherent to democracy.

I had always thought that was the definition of a totalitarian society, and fascism.

It almost feels as if these two “sides” are really just the remnants of an authoritarianism that never truthfully wanted democracy in the first place. Do you ever notice how they never really fight to nourish and empower us at our most essential core level, mind, body, spirit…? It’s all about bloviated legislation that will supposedly tend to the symptoms which are caused by our neglect for humanity and the Earth in the first place.

What have they done to prevent pollution at the source—or violence—let alone the corruption of agriculture, medicine, science, education, food, technology, art, and all that is truly essential to the quality of our life experience? Besides lining their own pockets with the spoils of a war we didn’t know we were drafted into…and instigating easily as much violence as they claim to be resolving.

Or have we been living in imperialism so long that we no longer think about the source of life itself? Do you compare our modern society to medieval times, and measure our enslavement by how deep the gashes from the whips and the chains cut, as if that’s our only remaining metric for sanity and freedom?

Sometimes you have to go back, much further in time, before all those history books were written by the victors, casualties, and survivors in carnage, to see life at a more elemental level…one less warped by the cold lifeless perspective of a cruel and calculating observer, a dispassionate narrative borne more from surviving and suffering the unfathomably merciless brutality of war than from anything resembling neutrality, sanity, or emotional balance.

Who are we, really? Truly… Beyond the narratives superimposed upon us by children born into illness.

Just saying, if “they” really want to help humanity, the-powers-that-(shouldn’t)-be, their priorities would be vastly different. Their focus would be on nurturing and healing humanity, from birth, at the source, tending to our wounds, nourishing our consciousness and conscience, rather than punishing the wounded and broken as if their blood is just a blemish on our silky robes of civility.

They don’t rule on a principal of “tough love” …more like tough luck. They rule with an iron fist because they know no other way, because they are not truly fit to be stewards of the human race, so instead they have opted to control us, herd us, coerce us, pervert us; to become our “elite” masters, but measurable only in how thoroughly and completely they’ve elected to be our enslavers rather than as a testament to how they’ve mastered these Earthly realms.

In truth, they fail miserably to do that, and our misery remains their sole prize.

People keep arguing over whether or not “empathy” is among our great psychological problems as a society.

How would we know?

Empathy is the ability to see into the pathologies of others, and it is a human gift that has become almost extinct.

Perhaps the truth is that those who vilify empathy are in reality trying to stamp out the last embers of it, because they know that its light would reveal how distorted and entangled we’ve become.

How our knowledge, understanding, and wisdom is being existentially corrupted at the source while we focus on the symptoms and accoutrements of self-made cataclysms and self-fulfilling diseases…

  1. One translation for the word “democracy” is actually the power in people. You could also describe that power as strength, will, intelligence, etc.

Essentially, it is the energy present, both dormant and active, in our shared mutual potential; the “power” of our collective consciousness.

Ironic then, that in modern times we focus only on government, rulership, and artificial laws, don’t you think?

Is this a democracy of empowerment… or one of disempowerment?

  2. We are expecting people who are deeply invested in their own particular brand of power and authority, so much so that it’s come nearly at the expense of all else, to really see (and embrace) our true human potential?

Are these the “experts” we want to entrust our future to?

You might as well ask the CEO of McDonalds to fund and conduct an unbiased study on the health benefits of a home-cooked meal, and then take that analysis as canon.
