Manipulating the concept of manipulation…

Being a “being” who is very sensitive to external energies (especially other people’s), I have no choice really but to be consciously aware of these energetic dynamics and navigate them as best I can. It’s strange to me; that some people who tend to be more aloof or unconscious with regards to their intentions and surroundings will see this heightened awareness as “manipulative.” Like, okay, maybe… But have you ever tried riding a bike with no hands and a blindfold on? Because it doesn’t typically go well. I don’t have somebody else who can steer for me, unfortunately. I’m not a passenger in this vessel. I’m the only one who can drive it.

The UniVerse put me here to be me. Picture me born onto a bucking bronco, who wasn’t trying to throw me off and kill me, despite its best efforts, but was also “me” – and just trying to survive also? Like, I didn’t hop on this ride so I could grab the reigns and control sh!t, I was born this way. As if into the waves of the ocean. My flippers and fins and gills mean no harm. We don’t wish to offend your sensibilities. I try to be as respectful of other energies as possible, mind my own business, and give others all the room to breathe and live that I can.

But… due to my heightened sensitivities (similar to how a delicate instrument is “sensitive” by design, and “delicate” in its ability to measure ornate phenomenon) I’m also aware of complex interwoven overlapping threads of our reality, details beneath the surface, which are difficult to ignore (dangerous, in fact). So I must work with them, in the same way one becomes interwoven with the waves, the tides, the wind, the Moon, and the sunrise… the moment they step into the ocean and lose their footing, becoming “groundless” in a sense. In the way their senses once functioned. Their very innocence shifts, in a sense.

And you may not know it’s the calm before the storm, nor will it seem sane or rational to say so, but my antennae are speaking to me without words: intuition. Empathy.

Being present in the moment for me has often meant tremendous amounts of information to sift through, making split-second decisions at times. It has been a life-long process, all ways evolving, with few if any days off. Escapism so often becoming a dangerous game to play, if I hoped not to get lost, and lose the progress I’d made.

If I appear as “normal” that’s great, and the result of 3 decades of trying to make peace with my surroundings. If I “pass” for a typical human, thank you for the complement.

However, I will say this:

Consider that maybe you’ve been programmed to see “paying attention” to things beyond the surface as a bad or invasive thing, when it’s actually how we’re meant to be as spiritual beings inter-acting with each other.

Maybe… There’s just so much industrial grime caked up on our perceptive lenses, accumulated from disuse and misuse, our perspective is obscured and disoriented. Our cognition unrecognizable amidst the dirge, as gears and chains and wires screech and shudder and spark in cacophony. Perhaps people have grown accustomed to hiding everything in the shadows, not knowing how else to exist in this madness? …Running on impulse. And leaping without looking. But I’ve been there, and done that, and healed all those shattered bones that left me near-paralyzed and near-death in oblivion at the bottom of a merciless cliff where I fell for what felt like an eternity.

I’m not trying to live like that anymore.

Thus spake Inanna, in whispers seeping through every crack and fissure of our broken systems.

A great many people born like me do not survive in this world.

But we also give back to the world, if allowed…if we’re honored. Surely any “gift” is a blessing and a burden, and may become corrupted, especially when misused or abused by those who would take advantage. But, the Earth has given us to humanity for a reason – as artists, as philosophers, as beings – we embody an organic feat of biotechnology that is inherent to evolution. The unusual ones. Mutants?

The seers who see beyond artificial limits.

Remember that, when you encounter somebody who is “different.” Is it such an eyesore, or is it not beautyful, when you look a little closer? Our differences are the crux of our insights as a collective species. Not to be projected upon or used callously, but to be honored, nourished, and treasured. We are natural resources, to be cultivated in reverence, in collaboration with our inner sanctuaries, but never harvested crudely or cruelly, without regard or respect for our origins.

In this, we too are meta-microcosms for mother Earth, reflecting the nurture inherent to nature.

We are you, and you are us.
